Fibre Optic Lamp – 1970s

$400 Incl GST

Beautiful & totally of the period.

New Zealand’s version of the Australian Koninderie lamp – very, very special.
Great quality – robust fan unit & real fibre optics.
Distributed in NZ by the Kerridge Odeon group. – their picture theaters were always pretty stylie.

Made in Australia – By Bendix, Rockdale NSW – Circa 1970

Great condition – the fibres are still stored in their original sleeve, only been taken out for our pics.
Base is well made & in great nick – there’s a slight chip to the veneer on one foot. Hardly noticeable.
Real fibre optics – look great. The fan in the unit is quiet, but of course if you listen closely – you can hear it.

48cm high and the timber base is 20cm x 20cm. Approx 4.5KG

Two controls on front – one of these is power on/off, the other operates a rotating lens that colours the light before it goes through into fibres. Either stop the lens when it reaches the desired colour or leave it on to cycle through colours slowly.

There is also a fan that blows air up through the base causing a gentle breeze like motion with the fibres. Looks like a distant city of fairy lights!

Important note to make about fibre optics – these are glass strands. Consideration needs to be given to placement – shouldn’t be accessible by small children or pets. Also – not to be handled around food.

Independently ‘Tested & Tagged’ for electrical safety.
