Very nice sound – clear & detailed. Fantastic vocals. Not suitable for a drum & bass festival, but enjoyable for smaller space – easy listening.
All drivers checked – Original ‘tweeter’ drivers replaced with ‘New, old stock’ Goodmans tweeters – same models as the original, just never used ones – from FiFs secret stash.
Crossover circuit checked & capacitors replaced to ensure accurate performance.
Cabinetry re-finished by 54 FiveSix Furniture & looking like new.
We’ve had a few sets of Goodmans SL-Fives – they are a nice, detailed speaker but really lack bass. All good if you’re using them in an office or location where music is ‘background’.
To try & improve this set, we’ve swapped out the 2x 8ohm bass/mid drivers for a set of 8ohm high efficiency bass/mid drivers manufactured by Infinity. This has given a great improvement to the warmth & soundstage. Added just a little depth to the bass though – so, still not drum & bass festival equipment.
