Koninderie Fibre Optic Lamp

Vintage Australian Koninderie (Aboriginal word for rainbow)

Fibre Optic Lamp By Bendix, Rockdale NSW

Stunning lamp encased in mahogany – works beautifully.

There is currently one of these on display in the NSW Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences.

Made in Australia – 1972

Great condition example – there won’t be many of these out there.

Construction – wood, steel, & fibre optics.

The lamp is approximately 48cm high and the timber base is 20cm x 20cm.

Approx 4.5KG

Two controls on front – one of these is power on/off, the other operates a rotating lens that colours the light before it goes through into fibres. Either stop the lens when it reaches the desired colour or leave it on to cycle through colours slowly.

There is also a fan that blows air up through the base causing a gentle breeze like motion with the fibres. Looks like a distant city of fairy lights!

NB. There is some fan noise when operating – can’t be heard unless you listen for it
