Crown Lynn Pottery, New Lynn, Auckland 1948 - 1989.

The Golden Age of New Zealand Manufacture.

Producing hundreds of designs - some in large numbers, some in limited releases, many on order to New Zealand institutions, such as Air NZ, Railways, & the Health service.

A Royal visit of Queen Elizabeth II to the Auckland factory in 1963 was a turning point for the company. The so-called ‘snob wars’ were won. The locally made product becoming more 'respectable' to consumers following the royal appearance.

Production peaked at about 10 million pieces per annum, becoming the largest pottery company in the southern hemisphere at the time.
